Tris Thorp_Healing Ancestral Trauma and Generational Patterns_Neural Linguistic Programming_Mental and Emotional Release

Hey there, friend–

What if I told you that some of the struggles you’re facing right now didn’t start with you?

You weren’t born believing you weren’t enough. You weren’t born afraid to use your voice, or feeling like it’s your responsibility for fixing everyone around you.

Yet, somewhere along the way, these beliefs, fears, and emotional patterns became yours

Passed down through generations, they silently shaped how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and the choices you make.

What Are Generational Patterns?

Generational trauma isn’t always about a single event—it’s the repeated cycles of belief, behavior, and emotional survival strategies inherited from those who came before us.

This can look like:

🌀 Belief Systems: “Love is painful,” “I have to struggle to succeed,” “Having wealth is bad,” “Rest is laziness.”

🌀 Emotional Coping Mechanisms: Suppressing or deflecting your feelings and emotions, avoiding conflict—your own and that you experience with others, or always needing to be in control.

🌀 Survival Strategies: Perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-sacrifice, quitting, running away or shutting down when you feel triggered.

🌀 Inherited Trauma: Anger, sadness, fear, scarcity, shame, or grief carried forward from past generations.

Why understanding this matters is because we carry the pain and burdens of our ancestors.

We often repeat these patterns—even when they don’t serve us, even when it doesn’t make logical sense—because they feel familiar.

Why You Can’t Just “Think” Your Way Out of These Patterns

You’ve probably tried. You’ve read the books, done the affirmations, maybe even gone to therapy.

Yet, the same wounds, the same reactions, the same self-sabotaging behaviors keep showing up–over and over and over again.

That’s because healing inherited patterns requires more than just awareness—it requires going within and doing the deeper inner work.

The subconscious mind runs the show. It stores everything we’ve inherited—beliefs, emotions, and trauma responses.

Unless we go inward and reprogram these unconscious imprints, we stay stuck in loops we don’t even realize we’re repeating.

Breaking the Cycle: Where to Begin

If you recognize yourself in any of this, please know that you are not bound to your past. The fact that you’re aware of the pattern(s) means your subconscious mind is ready to let them go.

Here’s where you can start:

1️⃣ Identify the Pattern: What beliefs or behaviors feel like they’ve been passed down? Where do you see repetition in your life?

2️⃣ Feel It to Heal It: Instead of bypassing the discomfort, sit with it. Where do you feel these inherited emotions in your body?

3️⃣ Rewrite the Narrative: What’s a new belief you want to embody? How would the healed version of you respond differently?

4️⃣ Get Support: Healing deep generational wounds isn’t meant to be done alone. Having the guidance of someone who is highly trained and specializes in subconscious reprogramming makes all the difference.

This is the exact work we do inside WITHIN: The Inner Work, my Legacy Program for women ready to break old cycles and step into full emotional freedom.

If this resonates, I’d love to support you in going deeper.
